Biharsharif: A horrifying incident unfolded in Singh Colony under the Bihar Sharif police station area on Wednesday evening, where a man shot dead a young woman and her mother before turning the gun on himself.
According to police officials, the deceased have been identified as Poonam Kumari (24) and her mother Putush Devi, residents of Singh Colony. They were shot inside their home. The accused, Manish Kumar, a resident of Chandi Mau and son of Rajiv Kumar, allegedly shot himself after killing the two women. He succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
One-Sided Love Behind the Incident
Initial investigation suggests that Manish Kumar was involved in a one-sided love affair with Poonam Kumari. Sources say he was deeply disturbed after learning about her upcoming marriage, which was scheduled for April 28. Preparations for the Tilak ceremony were underway and were set to take place on April 22.
Police Investigation Underway
Senior police officials, including Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni and Station House Officer Irfan Khan, reached the spot shortly after the incident and began a probe. “Prima facie, it appears to be a case related to a love affair. A detailed investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events,” said SHO Khan.
The sudden act of violence has cast a pall of gloom over Singh Colony, where what was meant to be a time of celebration has turned into a scene of mourning.
