Patna: Deputy Chief Minister and Mines Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has formally appealed to the Union Ministry of Coal and Mines for enhanced cooperation in mineral exploration and extraction across Bihar. The request was conveyed through a letter to Union minister G. Kishan Reddy during their meeting in Delhi.
Sinha highlighted that twelve mineral blocks have already been successfully auctioned in the state. He urged that additional blocks be opened in Gaya, Bhagalpur, Rohtas and Jehanabad, citing the economic potential these locations hold.
Furthermore, he proposed that the Bihar State Mining Corporation Ltd. be entrusted with ensuring a steady supply of coal to small-scale and cottage industries. To boost exploration, Sinha also requested technical assistance from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) for identifying promising mineral-rich tracts across Bihar.
