Patna: Members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly will participate in an orientation programme on Thursday aimed at enhancing their understanding of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The initiative is intended to strengthen legislators’ ability to use digital tools in governance and constituency development.

Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar will deliver the welcome address at the programme. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is scheduled to launch the Project Monitoring Information System Portal for the Mukhyamantri Kshetra Vikas Yojana (MKVI) and address the participating MLAs.

Orientation Programme in Two Sessions

The training programme will be held in two sessions from 11 am to 2 pm at the auditorium of the Legislative Assembly’s extended building.

The sessions will focus on digital technology, AI and their applications in legislative work and public administration. The Assembly said the programme is designed to equip MLAs with the knowledge required to adapt to evolving governance practices.

Speaker Reviews Preparations

Ahead of the event, Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar reviewed preparations on Wednesday.

He said it was important for elected representatives to be familiar with modern technologies and digital administrative systems, adding that technological awareness would help legislators perform their responsibilities more effectively in a changing governance environment.

Focus on Digital Governance

According to the Assembly Speaker, the initiative seeks to improve the technical capabilities of MLAs while promoting digital governance, transparency, accountability and result-oriented development.

He said greater understanding of digital systems would help legislators carry out both legislative responsibilities and constituency-related work more efficiently.

Technology to Improve Monitoring of Development Schemes

The programme will also mark the launch of the Project Monitoring Information System Portal under the Mukhyamantri Kshetra Vikas Yojana (MKVI).

The portal is expected to enable digital monitoring of development schemes and provide organised access to information on their progress. Officials said the platform is intended to strengthen transparency, accountability and coordination between public representatives and the administration in implementing development projects.
