Patna: The first monsoon rains in Bihar have triggered a series of tragic lightning strikes, claiming the lives of five individuals, including a child. The downpours, which commenced on Thursday, swept across nearly half of the state, impacting major areas such as the capital city of Patna.
Among those who lost their lives were two residents of Budhan Bigha village in Aurangabad district, identified as Jitan Yadav, 58, and Lallu Yadav, 55. Both men were fatally struck by lightning and were pronounced dead upon arrival at Sadar Hospital.
In Kaimur district, 15-year-old Vivek Rai tragically lost his life while attempting to clear a rainwater pipe on the roof of his house in Bahuara village amidst heavy rainfall.
Another incident occurred in Vaishali district, where 30-year-old Dheeraj Kumar was struck by lightning while working in a field in Bishanpur Ram village. His father, Arjun Paswan, revealed that Dheeraj had recently married just a month earlier.
The youngest victim was eight-year-old Beauty Kumari, who was fatally struck by lightning in East Champaran district while returning home from school with her friend Reshmi Kumari, who sustained injuries in the incident.
