Patna: The Bihar Education Department is preparing to introduce a system under which District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) will visit villages every month to interact with parents of children studying in government schools.
The initiative follows an assessment of education-related grievances raised during Sahyog Shivirs, where parents and residents highlighted concerns about teacher shortages, attendance and school infrastructure.
Monthly Visits To Gather Parent Feedback
Under the proposed system, DEOs and BEOs will spend a full day in a designated village each month.
Parents of children enrolled in government schools in the village and surrounding areas will be invited to share feedback on the quality of teaching, teacher availability and the functioning of schools.
According to the Education Department, the objective is to strengthen monitoring by incorporating regular feedback from parents.
District Reports To Guide Improvements
Based on the discussions, District Education Officers will prepare reports on the quality of education and teacher availability in schools.
The findings will be shared with school headmasters to identify areas requiring improvement. Officials will also hold follow-up interactions with parents during subsequent visits to assess whether the identified issues have been addressed.
Reports To Be Submitted To Headquarters
The department has directed that reports on the implementation of the initiative be submitted to its headquarters.
These reports will include the number of villages visited, the number of parents consulted, student enrolment figures, teacher strength and other information relating to school administration and facilities.
Initiative Follows Public Grievances
According to the department, the programme has been designed in response to issues raised during Sahyog Shivirs held across the state.
Among the concerns highlighted were shortages of teachers, irregular attendance by teaching staff and the poor condition of school buildings in some areas. Officials said the monthly visits are intended to improve accountability and provide a mechanism for monitoring corrective action.
