Patna: National Startup Day celebrations to be hosted in Patna on January 16, 2026, as the Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) becomes the venue for Avinya Bihar 2.0, an event aimed at showcasing the state’s expanding role in India’s startup landscape.
Organised by the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar, and jointly hosted by CIMP-BIIF and CIMP in association with TiE Patna, the event brings together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and academic leaders to strengthen collaboration within the startup ecosystem. The chief guest will be the state’s industries minister, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal. Other prominent figures expected to attend include T N Singh, director of IIT Patna; Anubha Prasad, general manager at SIDBI; Bidya Nand Singh, IAS; Joseph Paul Arackalan, general manager at IC IIT Patna; Abhishek Sinha, CEO of Global Management Associates LLC (Dubai); Rana Singh, director of CIMP; Vibhash Kumar, executive director of TiE Patna; Mousami Saha, CEO of IC-AIIMS Patna; and representatives from business associations, incubators and the legislative assembly.
Two masterclasses will form a key part of the programme. One, titled From Content to Canvas: Crafting Visually Powerful Pitch Decks for Investors, will be conducted by Abhishek Biswas, director of Red Pixels Pvt Ltd. The other, Developing Investment Mindset, Readiness and Finding Opportunities, will be led by Sushil Sharma, founder of Marwari Catalyst.
Kumod Kumar, CEO of CIMP-BIIF and president of TiE Patna, described the event as a collective step towards building Bihar’s startup future. “This gathering is not just a celebration of entrepreneurial spirit but a commitment to positioning Bihar as a hub of innovation that competes globally while solving challenges locally,” he said.
Rana Singh, director of CIMP, said the institute was proud to host an event that reflected Bihar’s changing economic aspirations. “Our startups are shaping local solutions while stepping onto the global stage. This platform represents our shared resolve to nurture talent, partnerships and innovation,” he said.
The event’s highlights include the launch of the website Startupandi.com, the signing of memoranda of understanding between Startup Bihar and TiE Patna, and between Startup Bihar and SU&I Magazine, cheque distribution to five startups, awards for the top five incubation centres and startup cells, product launches and guided walkthroughs of startup stalls.
Organisers said Avinya Bihar 2.0 would serve not only as a celebration of entrepreneurial talent but also as a catalyst for new initiatives and partnerships. By connecting startups with investors and policymakers, the event aims to accelerate growth across the ecosystem and inspire a new generation of innovators.
As Bihar continues to invest in entrepreneurship and innovation-driven development, the National Startup Day programme is being positioned as a symbol of the state’s ambition to emerge as a centre of creativity, enterprise and forward-looking economic transformation.
