Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for several parts of Bihar, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning on Saturday, July 11, as the southwest monsoon remains active across the state.
According to Patna Meteorological Centre, the prevailing weather conditions are being influenced by a low-pressure area over the northern parts of central Uttar Pradesh and an active monsoon trough at sea level.
Orange Alert For North-West And South-West Bihar
The IMD has placed parts of north-west and south-west Bihar under an Orange Alert, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
East Champaran, West Champaran and Gopalganj are expected to receive widespread heavy rain.
Heavy rainfall has also been forecast at isolated places in Rohtas, Kaimur (Bhabhua), Bhojpur, Buxar, Arwal, Aurangabad, Patna, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Nawada, Gaya, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Begusarai.
The department has also predicted lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph in these areas.

Yellow Alert For Seemanchal And Mithilanchal
A Yellow Alert has been issued for parts of the Seemanchal and Mithilanchal regions.
The districts likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated locations include Araria, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Siwan and Supaul.
IMD Advises Caution
The India Meteorological Department has urged residents to remain alert during thunderstorms and lightning.
People have been advised to avoid open fields, tall trees and electric poles during lightning activity and to take shelter inside concrete buildings until conditions improve.
Officials have also asked the public to follow weather advisories and exercise caution while travelling during periods of intense rainfall.
