Patna: A man was shot dead and two others seriously injured in Shahpur village under Salimpur police station in Patna on Saturday evening. Inglesh Yadav, 45, was killed when unknown assailants opened fire on his family while they were returning from worship at Maa Jagdamba Temple in Karauta.
The injured, including a woman, were rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital, where doctors said the woman’s condition remains critical. Family members claimed that the attack was linked to Inglesh’s recent purchase of a new truck, which reportedly angered some villagers. They named Nitish, Rohit and Chandan as the alleged shooters.
According to Barh sub-divisional DSP Abhishek Singh, the incident appears to be the result of a two-year-old rivalry. The police assured strict action against the culprits and took the body for post-mortem after villagers lifted a blockade on the Mokama-Bakhtiyarpur highway.
DSP Singh added that investigations are ongoing, including taking statements from the injured and assessing the number of rounds fired. Villagers had blocked the highway in protest over what they described as delayed police response.
