Patna: The Bihar government transferred the monthly social security pension to eligible beneficiaries on August 10, observed as Bihar Pension Day in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary transferred the pension through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

According to the government, the revised Rs 1,100 monthly pension is being provided to elderly people, widows and persons with disabilities covered under various social security pension schemes.

Who Has Received The Rs 1,100 Pension?

The pension is being provided to beneficiaries covered under several state and central social security schemes.

These include the Mukhyamantri Vriddhajan Pension Yojana, Bihar Disability Pension Scheme and Lakshmibai Samajik Suraksha Pension Yojana. Beneficiaries under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme and Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme are also covered.

The government has linked pension payments to a fixed monthly schedule, with payments released through DBT on the 10th of every month.

Pension Amount Increased From Rs 400

The monthly pension was previously Rs 400 for beneficiaries under the state’s social security pension system.

The government subsequently increased the amount to Rs 1,100 per month for eligible elderly, widowed and disabled beneficiaries. The revised amount is intended to provide regular financial assistance to people covered under the schemes.

How To Check If The Pension Has Been Credited

Beneficiaries can first check the SMS received on the mobile number registered with their bank account. Banks generally send a transaction alert when the pension is credited.

The account balance can also be checked through a nearby bank branch, ATM or Customer Service Point (CSP).

Beneficiaries can additionally use the Bihar Social Welfare Department’s official online portal to check the status of their DBT payment.

Aadhaar Linkage Important For Pension Payments

Beneficiaries whose payments have been affected because their Aadhaar is not linked with their bank account have been advised to complete the required Aadhaar seeding.

The government has also urged eligible people aged 60 and above who are not currently receiving pension benefits to apply under the applicable scheme.

Once the required verification and Aadhaar-bank linkage are completed, eligible beneficiaries can receive pension payments through the DBT system, subject to scheme rules.

What Beneficiaries Should Do If Payment Is Missing

If the Rs 1,100 pension has not appeared in an eligible beneficiary’s account, they should first check their registered mobile number for a transaction message and verify the account balance.

If the payment is still not reflected, beneficiaries can check their DBT status through the official Social Welfare Department portal or contact their bank or the concerned local welfare authorities to verify their account and Aadhaar details.
