Patna: The state government has adopted a strict approach to address slow progress and pending projects in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). PHED Minister Sanjay Singh has made it clear that contractors who have failed to complete their assigned works will not be awarded any new projects. He also directed that contractors who owe money to the department must return the pending amounts under all circumstances.
The minister said monitoring of departmental works has been strengthened. Executive engineers will now conduct inspections at project sites four times a month, while the chief engineer will regularly review the status of all ongoing schemes. Accountability has been fixed for all concerned officers as part of the enhanced monitoring mechanism.
Deadline of One Month for Pending Works
Issuing a stern warning, Sanjay Singh directed all contractors to complete their pending works within one month. Contractors who fail to meet the deadline will be blacklisted and barred from receiving any government work in the future.
The minister also instructed departmental officers to ensure that all pending works are completed within the stipulated time. He warned that if projects remain incomplete after the deadline, departmental action will be initiated against the responsible officials.
Power Bill Dues Must Be Cleared
The minister further said that all works under the Saat Nischay-2 scheme must be completed at the earliest. He pointed out that several PHED contractors have outstanding electricity bill dues. Such contractors will not be allotted any new work until they clear their pending power bills.
