Patna: The Government of Bihar has opened admissions for pilot training at the Bihar Aviation Institute, offering young residents an opportunity to pursue a career in aviation through a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) course.
The institute, which operates under the state’s civil aviation department, has invited applications for 40 seats in the current admission cycle.
Domicile policy prioritises local students
Officials said only permanent residents of Bihar are eligible to apply, with the move aimed at promoting local talent and increasing the state’s participation in the aviation sector.
The initiative is expected to expand employment opportunities for young people, with authorities reporting strong interest among aspirants.
Eligibility and selection process
Applicants must have completed Class 12 with physics and mathematics and be at least 18 years old. Selection will be based on a screening process designed to maintain training standards.
Candidates are required to submit applications through registered or speed post along with supporting documents, including domicile, caste and income certificates.
Fee structure and training details
The training fee has been set at Rs 6,000 per hour, with the total cost expected to go up to Rs 3 lakh depending on flying hours.
Officials said the programme is aligned with standard aviation training norms and aims to ensure quality instruction.
Reservation across categories
Seats have been allocated across categories, including eight for Scheduled Castes, one for Scheduled Tribes, 10 for Extremely Backward Classes, seven for Backward Classes, four for Economically Weaker Sections and 10 for the general category.
Authorities said the reservation framework is intended to ensure equitable access across social groups.
Push for aviation careers
Officials said the initiative reflects the state’s efforts to create new career pathways and support skill development in specialised sectors.
With limited seats and high interest, applicants have been advised to complete the process within the stipulated deadline.
