Patna: Bihar’s political landscape is heating up ahead of the assembly elections, with parties intensifying their campaign activities. While Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav tours the state with his ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’, speculation is mounting over internal conflicts within his family and the potential departure of another close relative from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Political observers have noted that Rohini Acharya, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, has been hinting at dissatisfaction with her current position in the party. Recent posts on her social media accounts suggest a rift that mirrors the earlier departure of her brother, Tej Pratap Yadav.
In one post, Rohini wrote: “As a daughter and sister, I have fulfilled my duty and will continue to do so. I have no desire for any position, nor any political ambition. My self-respect is paramount for me.” The statement has been interpreted as a clear expression of discontent within the family.

Earlier, Rohini shared a video of herself on a hospital stretcher, remarking: “Those who are ready to make the greatest sacrifices, putting their lives on the line, have fearlessness, boldness, and self-respect in their blood.” The message drew attention given her previous act of donating a kidney to her father during his treatment in Singapore, highlighting her personal sacrifices for the family.

The tensions appear to have escalated during the Bihar Adhikar Yatra when Sanjay Yadav, a close aide of Tejashwi, was seen occupying the front seat of the campaign bus—a position traditionally reserved for top party leadership. Rohini shared a social media comment on the incident without commentary, signalling disapproval, though no action was reportedly taken against Sanjay Yadav.
Later, she attempted to ease the strain by posting a picture of herself and Tejashwi, emphasizing the campaign’s focus on socio-economic justice and uplifting marginalized communities. Tejashwi himself has previously criticised Sanjay Yadav, reportedly referring to him as a “traitor” in veiled remarks.
The unfolding family dispute poses a delicate challenge for Tejashwi Yadav, who must balance familial tensions with the demands of an intense election campaign. Political analysts now watch closely to see whether Rohini Acharya will remain with the RJD or follow her brother’s exit, and how the leadership will navigate this internal turmoil.
