Patna: Bihar Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar on Friday reviewed the functioning, ongoing schemes and development projects of the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL) and its subsidiary companies, stressing that consumer interest remains the department’s highest priority.
The review meeting assessed projects and departmental activities related to power distribution, generation and transmission. Officials discussed measures aimed at strengthening power infrastructure and improving service delivery across the state.
Focus on Consumer Services
During the meeting, Rahul Kumar, Managing Director of the North and South Bihar Power Distribution Companies, presented a progress report outlining developments in consumer services and power infrastructure.
The presentation covered the expansion of consumer facilities, modernisation of the power supply system, current supply conditions, transformer capacity enhancement projects and efforts to strengthen the consumer grievance redressal mechanism.
Government Emphasises Reliable Power Supply
Ajay Yadav, Energy Secretary and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of BSPHCL, said the department has been working in line with the state government’s priorities and under the guidance of the Energy Minister.
He said continuous efforts are being made to provide uninterrupted and quality electricity to consumers. He added that prompt resolution of consumer complaints and strengthening the power supply network remain key objectives of the department.
Directions for Summer and Monsoon Preparedness
The Energy Minister appreciated the work carried out by the department and reiterated that providing uninterrupted, quality and reliable electricity to consumers is the government’s foremost priority.
He directed officials to ensure power supply is maintained efficiently across the state and instructed that consumer-related issues be addressed on a priority basis.
Shailesh Kumar also asked officials to expedite preparations for uninterrupted power supply in view of the ongoing summer season and the approaching monsoon. He directed departments to complete all necessary works within stipulated timelines to minimise disruptions and improve service reliability.
Senior Officials Attend Meeting
Senior officials from BSPHCL and its subsidiary companies, including representatives from power distribution, generation and transmission agencies, were present during the review meeting.
The state government said it remains committed to ensuring reliable and quality electricity reaches every citizen of Bihar while strengthening consumer-focused services and infrastructure.
