Patna: Bihar is likely to witness another day of fluctuating weather conditions as monsoon activity remains weak across the state. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 23 districts, warning of isolated showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in some areas.
The remaining 15 districts are expected to experience generally normal weather, with sunshine during the day likely to increase humidity and discomfort. In Patna, partly cloudy skies may bring light rain or drizzle in some areas, but hot and humid conditions are expected to persist.
Rain likely in 23 districts
The weather department has forecast isolated rainfall with thunder and lightning in several parts of Bihar. Residents in the districts under the yellow alert have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms because of the possibility of lightning strikes.
Over the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in Nalanda, Jehanabad, Begusarai, Aurangabad, Bagaha, Araria and Supaul. Several other parts of the state remained cloudy and experienced gusty winds.
Why is Bihar seeing sudden changes in weather?
Weather experts said the position of the monsoon trough is changing frequently, resulting in varying weather conditions across Bihar. While moisture levels remain high, the conditions are not favourable for widespread rainfall across the entire state.
Strong sunshine during the day raises temperatures and humidity. This can trigger the formation of localised clouds, leading to sudden spells of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in some areas. As a result, weather conditions can change within a few hours.
Bihar weather forecast for July 29-31
According to the forecast, the same weather pattern is likely to continue from July 29 to July 31. Several parts of Bihar may receive light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.
However, there are currently no indications of widespread and continuous rainfall across the state. Intermittent sunshine in most districts is likely to keep humidity levels high.
Patna likely to remain hot and humid
Patna is expected to remain partly cloudy, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle in some areas. Despite the chance of showers, residents may continue to experience humid and uncomfortable conditions.
Sunshine during the afternoon could push temperatures higher, while weather conditions may change slightly towards the evening.
Bihar records 40% rainfall deficit
Bihar has received significantly less rainfall than normal so far this monsoon season. The state has recorded around 40% less rainfall than the normal average, raising concerns over the impact on agriculture in several districts.
The rainfall deficit has increased the pressure on farming activities, while residents continue to wait for more widespread showers to provide relief from the persistent humidity and heat.
