Patna: Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, has escalated the turmoil inside Bihar’s most prominent political family after alleging that she was abused, hit with slippers and expelled from the household for questioning the role of two key advisers in the party’s electoral defeat.
Rohini, who gained public admiration after donating a kidney to her father, said the confrontation at Rabri Devi’s residence in Patna began when she mentioned Sanjay Yadav and Rameez—both close to Tejashwi Yadav—as reasons behind the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s heavy loss in the assembly elections. “Everyone is asking why the party was defeated, but taking Sanjay or Rameez’s name gets you thrown out of the house,” she said.
Leaving the residence in tears, Rohini ignored questions from reporters before heading directly to Patna airport. There, still visibly distressed, she told the media that the party’s leadership was unwilling to accept responsibility for the defeat. “Tejashwi and Sanjay Yadav are not ready to take any responsibility. They want to blame others—me, Tej Pratap, anyone—just to absolve themselves,” she said.
In a striking rebuke of her own family, she added: “I have no family. Ask Sanjay, Rameez and Tejashwi Yadav. They expelled me because they don’t want to take responsibility. If someone wants to be Chanakya, then let them answer the workers. The whole country is questioning why the party is in this condition. Mention their names and you are abused, defamed and beaten with slippers.”

The rift has intensified scrutiny on Sanjay Yadav, Tejashwi’s closest political aide, who played a central role in seat-sharing and ticket decisions in the Grand Alliance. Rohini is not the only one who has expressed discomfort with his influence; Tej Pratap Yadav has also publicly criticised him.
Rohini posted on social media earlier in the day that Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had warned her to stay away from politics and the family even before the election campaign, yet she alone was now being blamed for the defeat. The tension dates back months: during Tejashwi Yadav’s campaign tour in September, Rohini objected to Sanjay Yadav occupying Tejashwi’s seat on the campaign bus. The incident triggered coordinated online attacks against her, prompting her to repeatedly insist she sought no ticket, post or Rajya Sabha berth. She later returned to the trail to campaign for party candidates.
The RJD’s crushing defeat has now turned inward, with the search for accountability fuelling open confrontation within the Yadav family. As the party attempts to regroup, the public feud between Rohini and Tejashwi’s inner circle has exposed deep divisions over strategy, influence and responsibility at the top of the RJD.
