Patna: Emotional scenes unfolded outside former chief minister Rabri Devi’s residence on Sunday when Usha Devi, a long-time Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) worker from Bodh Gaya, broke down after being denied a ticket for the 2025 Bihar elections.
Devi, who said she had been with the party since the age of 17, wept openly in front of supporters and the media, expressing her disappointment but also pledging loyalty to the RJD. “I had no parachute, no backup plan. I have worked for this party for decades,” she said, referring to politicians who allegedly use influence or connections to secure tickets.
Despite being overlooked by the leadership, Usha Devi announced that she would campaign for RJD’s Chhapra candidate and Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav. Her emotional appeal struck a chord with party workers and highlighted growing discontent among several loyal cadres left out of this year’s ticket distribution.
