Patna: Bihar Road Construction Minister Er. Kumar Shailendra on Thursday reviewed projects being executed by the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) and directed officials to ensure their timely and quality completion.
The review meeting covered 121 schemes being implemented by the corporation, including 15 flagship projects. Officials were also directed to expedite projects delayed by land acquisition and forest land-related issues.
The meeting was attended by Road Construction Department Special Secretary Dr Shailaja Sharma, BRPNNL chairman Dharmendra Kumar, the Engineer-in-Chief (Work Management), the corporation’s managing director, senior project engineers, deputy chief engineers and other officials.
Weekly Review Of Projects
The minister directed officials to review the progress of projects every week to ensure that construction moves at a faster pace.
He also directed officials to initiate steps for the early inauguration of the Sasaram Bypass, whose construction has been completed.
The meeting also reviewed the alignment and construction plans for a four-lane bridge between Ekchari and Saidpur in the Bhagalpur region.
Officials discussed widening the Belhar-Dardmara section of State Highway-22 to four lanes. The department said the proposed road would support development and connectivity in the Bhagalpur region and directed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report.
Connectivity To Uttar Pradesh
The meeting also discussed upgrading the road alignment connecting the under-construction Panduka Setu with Uttar Pradesh into a National Highway.
The proposed upgrade is aimed at improving connectivity between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, according to the department.
15 Flagship Schemes Reviewed
The flagship projects reviewed during the meeting include:
- A double-decker flyover from Gandhi Chowk to Nagar Palika Chowk in Chhapra, Saran district.
- A 1,730-metre four-lane elevated bridge connecting the Mithapur and Chiraiyatand flyovers through Karbigahiya in Patna, along with approach and service roads.
- A 1,180-metre high-level RCC bridge over the Mahananda at Abhaypur Ghat in Purnia, connecting Baisa on SH-99 with Kanki on NH-31, along with 1,785 metres of approach roads.
- A 2,700-metre high-level RCC bridge over the Kosi between Khujudreva Chowk and Dengrahi Ghat in Saharsa, with 740 metres of approach roads.
- A Road Over Bridge and approach roads at Level Crossing No. 31 between Saharsa and Panchgachia railway stations.
- A 3,160-metre four-lane high-level RCC bridge over the Ganges between Aguwani Ghat in Khagaria and Sultanganj in Bhagalpur, including approach roads and protective works under the NABARD-funded RIDF-XXI project.
- Expansion of a four-lane bridge and approach roads connecting the Sultanganj-Mirzachowki-Munger bypass near NH-80 as part of the Aguwani Ghat-Sultanganj Ganges Bridge project.
- A 27.180-km greenfield four-lane road connecting the Rajgir Buddhist Circuit from Salepur to Rajgir on NH-82 through Noorsarai, Ahiyapur and Silao in Nalanda.
- Two ROBs with a combined length of 7.0718 km on the Hilsa East Bypass in Nalanda.
- An ROB at Level Crossing No. 39C between Jaynagar and Khajauli railway stations on NH-527B in Madhubani.
- A 25.825-km two-lane road in Madhubani, comprising the western section of the Kanakpur Ring Road and the southern section from Birsar to Gangapur, including an ROB and paved shoulders.
- The 9-km Sasaram Bypass from Beda to Mokar in Rohtas.
- A 2,150-metre two-lane high-level RCC bridge over the Son River near Panduka in Rohtas, with approach roads, under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund.
- A connectivity road for the Janeshwar Mishra Setu linking NH-84 in Buxar with NH-19 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, across the Ganges.
- A new ROB at Level Crossing No. 7B between Barauni and Teghra railway stations in Begusarai.
Kua Bridge Repairs
The minister also reviewed the status of the Kua Bridge in Bhagalpur district and directed officials to begin repair work immediately.
Officials assured the minister that the repair work would be completed promptly and the bridge would be restored to its original condition.
The Road Construction Department said it is focusing on quality, transparency and timely implementation of infrastructure projects across Bihar.
The department also said regular monitoring at the district level and closer coordination with officials are being strengthened to improve the execution of road and bridge projects across the state.
