Patna: Two teachers died and 11 children were injured when a bus carrying students and staff from Madhya Vidyalaya Badhauna overturned in Bihar late on Monday night.
The accident occurred around 12:30 am on National Highway 319 near Sohsa village in the Parsathua police station area of Sasaram, Kaimur district. The bus, which was transporting students and teachers to Patna on an educational tour, reportedly lost control before crashing.
Seven teachers, 36 children, and one parent were on board. Two teachers, Puneet Kumar Sinha of Baghawa village, Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, and Sanjay Kumar Rai of Bhaishat village, Bhabua, were killed at the scene. Five other teachers and 11 students sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals with the assistance of local residents and police.
Authorities said the bus suffered severe damage. Administrative officials visited the site to supervise rescue and relief efforts. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram for post-mortem examination.
