Bihar: Sky Marshals Caught with 14 kg Gold at Gaya Airport, DRI Launches Investigation
GAYA – In a startling development, two sky marshals have been apprehended at Gaya airport by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for allegedly smuggling 14 kg of gold. The incident, which came to light late on Wednesday evening, has prompted a joint investigation by DRI and Customs officials, raising concerns of a potential larger conspiracy.
Airport officials have remained tight-lipped about the ongoing investigation. Airport Director Bangjit Sah stated, “We are not in a position to disclose any details at the moment as the matter is under investigation.”
The DRI team, acting on information, arrived in Gaya late in the evening and directed the scanning of the bags belonging to the Vietnamese Air Marshals. The scan revealed 14 kg of gold concealed in the air marshals’ bags, triggering swift action from Customs, CISF, and airport personnel.
Both sky marshals have been detained and are currently undergoing interrogation. Sources suggest that a raid operation is in progress, hinting at the possibility of a more significant issue at hand.
The detained sky marshals reportedly arrived on a flight from Myanmar, with the DRI acting on prior information regarding their gold possession.
