Patna: Bihar’s electricity authorities have issued firm instructions to agencies involved in the state’s smart prepaid metering project, urging them to complete all system metering and consumer tagging work by December 31.
The directive came during a meeting chaired by Manoj Kumar Singh, CMD of the state electricity company, on Tuesday. Singh reviewed the progress of smart meter installations and stressed the need to accelerate work on new connections, transformer and feeder metering schemes, and overall workforce deployment.
Officials from South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited were present, including Managing Directors Mahendra Kumar and Rahul Kumar, alongside representatives from metering agencies such as EESL, Genus, IntelliSmart, Adani Power, Secure Meters, Hyprint, and NCC.
The meeting also proposed organising job fairs to bolster manpower for the metering agencies, ensuring that the project meets the year-end deadline. Singh emphasised the importance of expediting installations to enhance efficiency and consumer service across the state.
