Patna: A total of 200 special buses will operate to Bihar from five states from October 10 ahead of Diwali and Chhath, offering an additional travel option to passengers facing heavy demand for train tickets during the festive season.
The special bus services will connect Bihar with Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Haryana and Jharkhand. Online ticket booking has already started through the Bihar State Transport Corporation website.
200 Buses From Five States
According to details reported about the initiative, the 200 buses have been allocated across the five states.
– Delhi: 40 buses
– West Bengal: 40 buses
– Uttar Pradesh: 60 buses
– Haryana: 30 buses
– Jharkhand: 30 buses
The services are scheduled to begin on October 10, allowing passengers to make travel arrangements before the peak Diwali and Chhath rush.
Stops In Patna
In Patna, the special buses will operate through several major transport points. These include the Pataliputra Bus Terminal at Bairiya, Gandhi Maidan and Phulwari Sharif.
The buses will also stop at the Multi-Modal Hub near the General Post Office, providing passengers with additional points for boarding and alighting.
Action Against Arbitrary Fares
Transport authorities have warned bus operators against charging passengers arbitrary or excessive fares during the festive period.
Officials have said action will be taken against operators found violating fare rules. Penalties may include heavy fines and cancellation of registration.
The Transport Department is also expected to conduct inspection drives for the special services from October 10.
Additional Travel Option During Festive Rush
Large numbers of people living in other states travel to Bihar during Diwali and Chhath. Although the railways introduce special trains during the festive season, demand for seats often remains high.
The additional bus services are intended to provide another option for passengers travelling to Bihar, particularly those who are unable to secure train tickets.
