Bihar State Disaster Management Authority Discusses Earthquake SOP Development

Patna: The Bihar State Disaster Management Authority convened a significant meeting to develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for earthquake disaster response. The meeting, chaired by Vice President Dr. Udaykant and guided by members P.N. Rai, Kaushal Kishore Mishra, Narendra Singh, and Prakash Kumar, took place in the authority’s auditorium.
The meeting focused on integrating new technologies into the SOP, including the use of drones and AI/Machine Learning techniques to enhance disaster response. The draft SOP prepared by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was reviewed, and suggestions were made to incorporate innovative technologies to improve effectiveness.
P.N. Rai emphasized the importance of a well-defined SOP for managing earthquake disasters, advocating for clear delineation of responsibilities and resources for each department. A committee was established under the Disaster Management Department to finalize the SOP, with representatives from various stakeholder departments involved.
Advisor (Technical) Dr. B.K. Sahay welcomed attendees, including officials from the Disaster Management Department, Home Guard, Fire Services, Civil Defense Directorate, Health Department, and other relevant agencies. The meeting concluded with plans to finalize the SOP to ensure a coordinated and effective earthquake response strategy.
