Bihar State Disaster Management Authority Honors Safe Swimming Trainers on Bihar Diwas

Patna: Bihar State Disaster Management Authority organized a special program on Bihar Diwas 2025 to honor Safe Swimming Master Trainers for their crucial role in disaster management. Selected trainers from Supaul district, who contributed significantly during the 2024 floods, were awarded certificates and an honorarium of Rs. 5000 each. Their efforts in relief and rescue operations during the devastating floods in the Koshi region were widely recognized.
The felicitation ceremony took place at the Authority’s pavilion in Gandhi Maidan, where Vice President Udaykant and members Kaushal Kishore Mishra, Narendra Kumar Singh, and Prakash Kumar presented certificates to the trainers. Narendra Kumar Singh encouraged the trainers to continue their dedicated service and emphasized the importance of making disaster management more effective in Bihar. The event also showcased various initiatives aimed at raising public awareness about disaster preparedness and safety.
The Authority’s pavilion featured exhibitions and demonstrations by reputed organizations such as ISRO, TISS, UNDP, TCS, NSDC, NDRF, and SDRF. Drone technology was used to demonstrate disaster prevention methods, including fire control and flood relief operations. Students were engaged through puppet shows, street plays, antakshari competitions, and painting activities under the Chief Minister School Safety Program. AR-VR technology provided interactive simulations on heat waves, fire safety, and earthquake preparedness.
Special training sessions were conducted for Divyaang children, who performed plays on earthquake, flood, fire, road safety, and lightning protection. The SDRF demonstrated borewell rescue equipment, cutting tools, airlifting bags, and rafting techniques, while NDRF’s dog show attracted significant public interest in search and rescue operations. Free health check-ups, including blood pressure, diabetes, and eye tests, were provided under the ‘Utkarsh – Ek Pehal’ initiative.
The event also featured shake table demonstrations on earthquake-resistant construction and a Hospital Fire Safety Model to educate people about fire protection measures in healthcare facilities. Various disaster safety awareness activities, including street plays, puppet shows, and interactive displays, were conducted throughout the program. The initiative by Bihar State Disaster Management Authority is playing a vital role in strengthening disaster preparedness and ensuring public safety across the state.
