Patna: The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited is constructing State Highway No. 95 (Mansi-Saharsa-Hardi Chowghara Path) under Phase-1 of the Bihar State Highway Project. This 14.125 km road starts from Mansi Railway Station on NH-31 and connects Saharsa via Funago Halt, linking the districts of Khagaria, Saharsa, Madhepura, and Supaul.
The project will overcome the lack of bridges on four key rivers—Bagmati, Katyani, Mrit Kosi, and Kosi—currently making direct connectivity impossible. Residents in the region have to travel long distances to access nearby districts. The new road will significantly improve access to the Maa Katyani Shakti Peeth Temple, an important religious and tourist destination, while also boosting local business, small-scale industries, and access to medical facilities.
As part of Package-1, a seven-meter-wide paved road is being constructed, including four major bridges over the Katyani River (296 meters), Bagmati River (355 meters), Dead Kosi River (229 meters), and Kosi River (514 meters), along with three minor bridges. Approximately 79 acres of land have been acquired in Khagaria district for this project, affecting 199 landowners. Land acquisition was expedited through special initiatives by Managing Director Kapil Ashok and the district administration, including the removal of 36 encroachments between Funago Halt and Katyani River Bridge.
With a total administrative approval of ₹513.73 crore, this project is expected to enhance connectivity, promote economic development, and create employment opportunities in the region, transforming the lives of residents in these districts.
