Patna: Bihar’s students have posted an impressive performance in this year’s ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) board examinations, surpassing the national average in both categories. Results released by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Wednesday reveal that the overall pass rate for the state stands at 99.4% for ICSE and 99.78% for ISC—compared to national averages of 99.09% and 99.02%, respectively.
While ISC pass rates in Bihar saw a marginal increase of 0.4% from the previous year, ICSE pass percentages dipped slightly by 0.28%. However, girls continued their academic dominance, outperforming boys with a pass rate of 99.61% in ICSE and 99.81% in ISC. Boys trailed slightly behind, securing 99.22% in ICSE and 99.73% in ISC.
In Bihar, 6,191 students appeared for the ICSE exam across 41 affiliated schools, including 2,854 girls and 3,337 boys. Of these, 37 students — 11 girls and 26 boys — did not pass. Meanwhile, 902 students (531 girls and 371 boys) took the ISC exam from 20 schools. Just one boy and one girl failed to clear the exam.
Patna witnessed several standout performances. Ritika Yadav from Carmel High School, Bailey Road, topped the city’s ICSE cohort with 99.4%, while Chaitanya Utkarsh of Don Bosco Academy (arts stream) led ISC results with 99.5%. In the science stream, Ashi Ashmita of Carmel High School achieved a notable 98.5%. Ipshita Kumari and Arnav Anant shared the top ICSE spot at Don Bosco Academy with 98.4%.
St Joseph’s Convent High School, Bankipore, celebrated a 100% pass rate in ICSE, with all 279 students successfully clearing the exam. Shivangi Agarwal stood as the school topper with 99.2% in Class X, while Sukriti Verma topped the ISC (arts stream) with 97%.
