Bihar Takes First-Innings Lead Against Tripura in Vijay Merchant Trophy

Patna: Bihar secured a 28-run first-innings lead against Tripura in the Plate Group match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 Men’s Multiday Cricket Tournament in Cuttack. At the close of the second day, Bihar was at 221 for 8 in 92 overs, responding to Tripura’s first-innings total of 193. The match, held at the MGM School of Sports ground, will conclude on Sunday, 8 December.

Tripura, resuming their innings at 190 for 9, added just three runs before being bowled out early on the second day. Bihar’s Satyam Raj claimed the final wicket, wrapping up Tripura’s innings.

Bihar’s reply was bolstered by key contributions from Yash and Omkar Kumar, both of whom struck half-centuries. Yash scored 50 off 133 balls, including seven boundaries, while Omkar hit an aggressive 52 off 86 deliveries, laced with seven fours and two sixes.

Other notable contributions came from Animesh Raj (23), Mohit Kumar (21 not out), Satyam Raj (20), and Ashish Gupta (19). Aryan Patel remained at the crease alongside Mohit without scoring.

For Tripura, the bowlers shared the spoils with Prithiraj Gop, Mahin, and Siddharth Devnath taking two wickets each, while Kishan Sarkar claimed one.

With a slim lead and just two wickets in hand, Bihar will aim to extend their advantage on the final day, while Tripura will look to bounce back in what promises to be a tense conclusion to the match.
