PATNA: The long-awaited transfer postings for over 51,000 newly appointed teachers in Bihar have finally begun, marking a major administrative milestone in the state’s education sector. The Department of Education initiated the school allocation process on Saturday, starting with 11 districts and bringing long-standing anticipation to an end.
These postings pertain to teachers selected in the third phase of recruitment conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The department confirmed that teachers will be informed of their school placements via their registered mobile numbers, with the entire allocation process expected to be completed within the next week.
Arwal became the first district to roll out the transfer postings, a move likely to be replicated quickly across the remaining regions. A total of 51,389 teachers are set to receive their assignments in this phase.
Back in March, provisional appointment letters were distributed, setting expectations for swift postings. Two months ago, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar personally handed over letters to 10,000 teachers from eight districts at a grand event at Gandhi Maidan, Patna. Teachers from the remaining districts received their letters at local district headquarters.
While addressing the gathering, CM Kumar reflected on Bihar’s progress, drawing a contrast with the law-and-order situation before 2005. “No one used to step out in the evenings — not even in Patna,” he said. “Today, boys and girls walk equally, with confidence. We’ve worked hard to uplift women, who are the backbone of society. It is the mother who gives birth, and women’s contributions must be recognised.”
The ongoing transfer process is being hailed as a crucial step toward resolving logistical hurdles in Bihar’s public education system and ensuring that schools across the state are adequately staffed.
