Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, president of the Jan Shakti Janata Dal and elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, has marked a personal milestone even as he grapples with political defeat. Days after losing the Mahua seat in the Bihar assembly elections, Tej Pratap celebrated the growth of his YouTube channel, TY Vlog, which has now crossed 1,00,000 subscribers.
Sharing photographs on social media, Tej Pratap posted images of himself cutting a cake with “100k” written on it. “I am very happy to inform you that our TY Vlog YouTube channel has reached 100k. This celebration was possible only because of your love, cooperation and support,” he wrote.
Tej Pratap, who has increasingly turned to digital content creation, has been uploading videos ranging from cooking litti to behind-the-scenes moments from his public engagements. In recent weeks, he has been noticeably more active online than in formal political spaces.
A day before the celebration, Tej Pratap visited the Patna Book Fair at Gandhi Maidan, where a video of his interaction with a young woman speaking fluent English went viral. He urged visitors, particularly young people, to read more, saying books offered “immense benefit.”
Despite the upbeat messaging, controversy surrounds him. A former supporter has accused Tej Pratap of assault at his government bungalow, House No. 26, claiming he was beaten and filmed in the nude. The accuser said that if “anything happens” to him, Tej Pratap would be responsible. The allegations remain unaddressed by Tej Pratap, who has not issued any public clarification.
For now, however, Tej Pratap appears keen to focus on his digital outreach, celebrating an online achievement even as his political future remains uncertain.
