Muzaffarpur: Punjab-based Tiwana Nutrition Global Private Limited is set to expand its operations to Bihar, with plans to establish a food production plant in Muzaffarpur. The company has secured 15 acres of land and aims to invest approximately Rs 70 crore in the first phase. Construction is expected to begin next year, with the plant poised to generate significant employment and boost the local economy.

The upcoming facility will directly employ 400 workers while creating indirect opportunities for around 30,000 individuals. Products such as milk, curd, cheese, khoya, lassi, peda, sattu, gram flour, fruit juice, and oil will be manufactured. Additionally, the plant will produce animal feed, benefiting local farmers.

Tiwana Nutrition plans to make Muzaffarpur its headquarters for Bihar operations, with supply chains extending to West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Nepal. The plant will source milk from a 200-kilometer radius, providing a steady market for cattle farmers and encouraging increased milk production in the region.

The company’s entry is expected to increase competition among dairy product manufacturers in Bihar, potentially driving down prices and improving quality for consumers. Tiwana Nutrition will also introduce stalls across urban areas to sell products directly to customers, creating additional micro-employment opportunities.

Bihar’s Industry Minister, Nitish Mishra, expressed optimism about the state’s industrial prospects. “Efforts are being made to attract investments through business meets and government support, which will create jobs for the youth,” he said.

Sandeep Kumar Bansal, Director of Tiwana Nutrition, highlighted the company’s initial reservations about investing in Bihar. “There were negative stereotypes about the state, but after discussions with the Bihar Government and BIADA officials, we were convinced of its potential. We are now ready to invest Rs 70 crore in the project,” he said.

With a turnover of Rs 1,700 crore annually, Tiwana Nutrition has established its presence in several states, including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Maharashtra. The Muzaffarpur plant will enable the company to strengthen its foothold in eastern India while uplifting the region’s dairy and food industry.
