Patna: The Meteorological Department has predicted dry and stable weather across Bihar today (Saturday), with no rainfall alert issued. However, intermittent changes in the atmosphere could trigger isolated thunderstorms in a few regions, especially by evening. From June 6 to June 10, the chances of rainfall in the state remain low, while temperatures are expected to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
Despite today’s dry forecast, the last 24 hours have brought severe weather impacts to parts of Bihar. Rain and thunderstorms lashed Patna, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, and other districts on Friday, leading to tragic incidents and travel disruptions.
4 Killed in Bhagalpur and Darbhanga Amid Storms
In Bhagalpur, lightning claimed the lives of two children—Aarambh (10), son of Mo. Babar, and Arshad (12), son of Mo. Manzoor. The boys, who were friends, had gone to a nearby orchard in Bari Dhankar village under Sabour police station to pick mangoes when lightning struck.
In Darbhanga, two people died in separate incidents involving falling trees due to strong winds. A 10-year-old girl, Ashmi Kumari, was fatally crushed by a jamun tree while returning with a buffalo in Biraul area. In another spot nearby, Dulari Devi (45) also lost her life in a similar tree fall incident.
Flight Operations Disrupted in Patna
The stormy weather also caused disruptions at Patna Airport, where four flights—three from Indigo and one from Air India—were diverted to Varanasi, affecting nearly 1,000 passengers. Additionally, 10 flights were delayed, including the Patna-Ranchi flight, which was held up by nearly four hours.
Flights resumed later in the day after weather conditions improved, but delays ranged from one to two and a half hours.
Waterlogging in Patna After Morning Showers
Heavy rain in the early hours of Friday led to waterlogging in several parts of Kadamkuan and other low-lying areas in Patna. However, the sky cleared by afternoon, with temperatures climbing again due to intense sunshine.

Weather Set to Change Post June 10
The IMD forecasts a shift in Bihar’s weather pattern starting the night of June 10. Moist south-westerly winds and a developing system in the Bay of Bengal could trigger widespread rainfall beginning in the northern and eastern districts, before spreading across the state.
Currently, no major cyclonic system is active over Bihar. The ongoing heat is attributed to dry and hot winds flowing in from northern India.
