Patna: The weather in Bihar is set to undergo a significant change in the next 48 hours, bringing relief from the ongoing cold. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be an increase of two to four degrees in both the minimum and maximum temperatures during this period.
The shift in temperatures is expected to reduce the chilly conditions that have gripped the region, particularly in the plains. The Meteorological Center in Patna stated that the influence of Western Disturbance continues to affect the mountainous areas of West India. As a result, a cyclonic circulation remains over West Rajasthan, which is likely to cause light snowfall in the mountains and drizzle in the plains around February 19-20.
While cold winds will persist in the Terai areas, the weather in southern parts, including Patna, is expected to remain generally dry.
On Monday, there was a noticeable increase in the minimum temperature across the state, including Patna. The minimum temperature in Patna rose by two degrees to 16.5°C, while Saharsa (Agwanpur) recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 10.5°C. Patna also saw a rise in the maximum temperature, which increased by 1.4°C to 28.5°C. Buxar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 30.2°C.
Meteorologist SK Patel confirmed that the temperatures are expected to remain above normal throughout February. With the Western Disturbance weakening over the state and a decrease in rainfall, the weather is expected to remain dry, alongside the rising temperatures.
Given the changing weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has advised farmers to irrigate their wheat crops, as this period is ideal for irrigation. The expected weather changes will provide an opportunity for crop nourishment, ensuring better yields.
