Patna: The Bihar government is set to launch a new biometric authentication-based portal to streamline the registration, renewal, and benefit distribution process for construction workers, Labour Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh has announced.
The portal, developed by the Labour Resources Department, has received approval for onboarding from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), and preparations are underway to make it operational. The key features of the new system include Aadhaar and biometric-based authentication for worker registration and renewal, online application submissions, and Aadhaar-linked payments.
Singh also stated that discrepancies in the old portal have been rectified. Online applications for registration, renewal, and schemes were accepted on the previous platform until February 12, 2025, after which the system was closed for construction workers. Regional officers have been given until 19 February to process pending applications, while data migration, managed by Indian Bank, will take place from February 20 to 21.
The new portal will go live immediately after these processes, providing a more secure and accessible platform for Bihar’s construction workforce.
