Patna: The Bihar government is preparing to roll out a series of tourism-focused initiatives, including rental transport services and homestay accommodation, aimed at improving visitor experience and boosting the local economy.
The scheme is being jointly developed by the state’s tourism and transport departments, officials said.
Rental Services And Homestays
Under the plan, tourists will be able to access “Rent-a-Cab” and “Rent-a-Motorcycle” services, along with a “Rent-a-Home” facility offering short-term accommodation in residential settings.
Officials said the homestay model is intended to provide visitors with a more local and personalised experience, similar to offerings in other states.
Phase I Rollout
In the first phase, the initiative will be introduced across key tourist destinations, including Patna, Rajgir, Nalanda, Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Valmiki Nagar, Vaishali, Motihari and Sitamarhi.
Authorities said the scheme would be expanded to other parts of the state after its initial rollout.
Registration And Safety Measures
The tourism department will register all participating homestays, and host families will undergo verification, with records maintained at local police stations.
Officials said these steps are intended to ensure safety and standardisation of services for both domestic and international tourists.
Boost For Local Economy
The initiative is also expected to create income opportunities for residents, who will be able to rent out their vehicles through authorised platforms.
Tourists will have the option to book vehicles online and explore destinations independently, with details of registered service providers made available on official portals.
Focus On Experience
Authorities said efforts are also being made to promote local cuisine as part of the tourism experience, allowing visitors to engage more closely with regional culture.
A review meeting is expected to be held next month to finalise implementation details, with officials aiming to make the services operational in the near future.
