Bihar is expanding its digital education initiatives with Bihar Vidya Sathi, a 24×7 interactive learning platform designed to provide students with access to teachers and subject experts from home.
The initiative is part of the state government’s broader push to modernise school education through digital learning, artificial intelligence and technology-enabled teaching. The objective is to give students access to quality academic support without requiring them to travel to major education hubs.
Free 24×7 Support For Government-School Students
Under the Vidya Sathi initiative, students can access academic guidance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service is available free of cost to government-school students, allowing them to seek learning support beyond regular classroom hours.
The platform brings teachers and subject specialists into a digital network where students can seek guidance from home. The initiative is also aimed at improving access to specialised teaching for students outside major cities.
75,000 Teachers And Experts In The Network
The digital platform currently has a network of around 75,000 teachers and subject experts. According to the state government, 1.46 lakh students are already using the platform, while the target is to expand its reach to 3 lakh students.
The scale-up is being linked with the development of model schools and wider digital infrastructure across Bihar.
The government has also planned 551 model schools and 211 degree colleges as part of its broader education expansion. Live classes are currently being conducted in 415 schools, with memorandums of understanding signed with seven educational institutions.
Focus On Competitive Examinations
A major focus of the initiative is helping students prepare for competitive examinations and higher education.
According to the information provided by the government, students from the first batch using the initiative included seven students who secured admission to IITs, while 30 others reached NEET and other institutions.
In the second batch, nine students secured IIT admissions, while 25 students reached NEET and other institutions. Another 15 students secured admission to government medical colleges.
These outcomes are being cited by the government as an indication of the potential of technology-enabled academic support for students.
Can Digital Learning Reduce Dependence On Education Hubs?
The expansion of Bihar Vidya Sathi comes against the backdrop of the large number of students who traditionally travel to cities such as Kota and Delhi for specialised coaching and competitive-exam preparation.
By offering access to teachers and subject experts from home, the government is seeking to make high-quality academic support more accessible to students across Bihar.
The platform is not positioned simply as a replacement for classroom education. Instead, it adds a 24×7 digital layer of academic support that students can access alongside their regular schooling.
