Orange Alert Returns: Is Your District Bracing For Bihar’s Next Spell Of Heavy Rain?

The India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms, gusty winds and heavy rainfall across large parts of Bihar from July 20 to July 22, with Orange and Yellow alerts issued for several districts.

Patna: Bihar is set to experience another spell of unstable weather, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds across several parts of the state between July 20 and July 22.

The IMD has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for multiple districts, advising residents in affected areas to remain vigilant, while weather conditions are expected to remain relatively calm in parts of eastern Bihar.

Officials have also advised travellers to check local weather forecasts before setting out during the three-day period.

Orange Alert Issued For Heavy Rain On July 20

According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, an Orange Alert has been issued for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur and Aurangabad on July 20.

These districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

A Yellow Alert has been issued for Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Jehanabad, Arwal, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Samastipur, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi and Sheohar, where light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds are forecast.

Meanwhile, weather conditions are expected to remain largely stable in Munger, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Araria, Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj.

Yellow Alert Continues On July 21

Although the threat of very heavy rainfall is expected to ease on July 21, the IMD has retained a Yellow Alert for a large part of the state.

Thunderstorms, strong winds and rain are forecast in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Nawada, Gaya, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur, Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Jehanabad and Arwal.

Conditions are expected to remain comparatively dry in Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura, Saharsa, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui.

Mixed Weather Forecast For July 22

The IMD has forecast another day of mixed weather across Bihar on July 22.

Adverse weather, including thunderstorms and rainfall, is expected in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Patna, Jehanabad and Arwal.

Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions.

In contrast, Vaishali, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Araria, Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj are expected to experience relatively pleasant and stable weather.

IMD Advises Caution

The Meteorological Department has urged residents in districts under weather alerts to monitor official forecasts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall.

People travelling over the next three days have also been advised to check district-specific weather updates, as conditions are expected to vary significantly across the state.
