Patna: The spell of rain, thunderstorms and lightning that affected Bihar over the past several days has subsided, with weather conditions expected to remain largely normal across the state on Sunday, September 13.
The Meteorological Centre, Patna, has issued no warning for rain or lightning for Sunday, offering residents a brief respite from the recent spell of unsettled weather.
Light to moderate rain in some areas
Monsoon activity remained subdued during the past 24 hours, although some parts of Bihar received light to moderate rainfall.
Patna also experienced strong winds during the period, with wind speeds reaching 44 kmph.
Among the highest rainfall totals recorded were 44.6 mm in Bochaha, 36.6 mm in Mushahari, 35.8 mm in Kanti and 35.4 mm in Dulhin Bazar.
Kaimur records highest temperature
Kaimur (Bhabua) recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 35.6°C.
The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Motihari in East Champaran, where the mercury fell to 23.2°C.
The Meteorological Department does not expect any major change in temperatures over the next two to three days. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 30°C and 36°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to range from 24°C to 28°C.
Relief likely to continue on Monday
The weather is expected to remain largely normal on Monday, September 14, as well. No rain or lightning warning has been issued for Monday, suggesting that Bihar is likely to experience at least two days without significant weather warnings.
Despite the absence of alerts, the Meteorological Department has advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms. People should avoid open fields and maintain a safe distance from tall trees and electric poles during lightning activity.
Residents, particularly those in flood-prone and waterlogged areas, have also been advised to remain vigilant and move to safe locations if conditions deteriorate.
