Patna: Weather conditions changed across Bihar on Saturday, October 10, with rain reported in several districts, including West Champaran, Khagaria, Madhubani, Samastipur, Begusarai and Muzaffarpur. Dark clouds gathered over Patna, where strong winds were reported in the morning.
The Disaster Management Department issued a weather alert for Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Sitamarhi and Vaishali districts, warning of moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds and lightning.
Meanwhile, severe erosion along the Ganga River near Raghopur in the Naugachia area of Bhagalpur district on Friday night caused several houses to collapse into the river. Fearing further damage, residents have started vacating their homes.
Heavy Rain Reported in North Bihar
Several parts of north Bihar experienced a change in weather on Saturday morning. Heavy rain accompanied by thunder was reported in Madhubani, while Samastipur witnessed rainfall and strong winds under a sky covered with dark clouds.
Rain was also reported from Mansurchak and other areas of Begusarai, as well as Khagaria, Muzaffarpur and Bettiah in West Champaran district. The rainfall brought a temporary drop in temperatures in some areas.
In Patna, dark clouds and strong winds were reported during the morning, raising the possibility of rain. However, the forecast indicated that the capital could see partly cloudy conditions, with a low probability of rainfall.
Monsoon Withdrawal Underway
Rainfall activity across Bihar is expected to weaken as the southwest monsoon gradually withdraws from the state. According to weather updates, the monsoon withdrawal line is currently passing through Supaul.
Weather scientists have indicated that conditions may become favourable for the withdrawal of the monsoon from some additional parts of eastern India over the next three to four days. However, the date for the complete withdrawal of the monsoon from the remaining parts of Bihar has not yet been determined.
Despite the changing weather conditions on Saturday, rainfall activity across the state is expected to remain limited over the coming days.
Weather Likely to Remain Mostly Stable Until October 15
According to the forecast, Bihar is likely to experience generally stable weather between October 10 and 15, with a low probability of widespread rainfall. No significant changes in maximum or minimum temperatures are expected during this period.
A trough extends from north Bangladesh through sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh towards Telangana. An upper-air cyclonic circulation is also active over eastern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas.
Despite these weather systems, the overall likelihood of significant rainfall across Bihar is expected to remain low in the coming days.
In Patna, partly cloudy skies are likely, while daytime temperatures may continue to cause some discomfort. No major fluctuations in maximum or minimum temperatures are anticipated.
