Patna: A shift in weather conditions has brought much-needed relief from the intense summer heat across Bihar, with sporadic rainfall and thunderstorms reported in several districts. The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Patna center has issued a yellow alert for the next 24 hours, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and winds blowing at 30–40 kmph in 20 districts, including the capital city.
While the current weather has eased the heat, the IMD has forecast a rise of 3–4 degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature across the state over the next 48 hours. From May 3 to 4, there is a warning for intermittent rain, thunder, and lightning in different parts of Bihar.
On Tuesday, Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 30.3°C, while the highest temperature in the state was registered in Dehri (Rohtas) at 37.8°C. Most districts, including Dehri, Nalanda, Begusarai, Sheikhpura, Bhagalpur, Banka, and Agwanpur, saw a rise in temperature, except for a few where conditions remained stable.
Rainfall over the past 24 hours was reported in several places, with Bausi in Banka receiving the highest amount at 14.8 mm. Other significant rainfall figures include:
- Sonu (Jamui): 10.8 mm
- Mahua (Vaishali): 10.2 mm
- Halsi (Lakhisarai): 6.4 mm
- Bhagwanpur (Vaishali): 5.4 mm
- Jhajha: 4.8 mm
- Thakurganj (Kishanganj): 4.2 mm
- Jamui: 4.2 mm
- Tarapur (Munger): 3.4 mm
- Bihar Sharif: 3.0 mm
- Matiyani (Begusarai): 2.6 mm
- Dhanarua (Patna): 2.4 mm
- Mushari (Muzaffarpur): 2.2 mm
- Chausa (Madhepura): 2.4 mm
Districts including Banka, Jamui, Vaishali, Nawada, Lakhisarai, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Munger, Madhepura, and others received varying amounts of rainfall, contributing to the improved weather conditions.
