Patna: A large-scale International Yoga Day programme was organised at the Pataliputra Sports Complex in Rajendranagar, Patna, on Saturday, with Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary leading the celebrations and hinting at the inclusion of yoga in Bihar’s school curriculum from next year.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the event and participated in a mass yoga session alongside ministers, public representatives and citizens. Addressing the gathering, he urged people to make yoga a regular part of their daily lives and said the state government was committed to promoting yoga across Bihar.
Yoga May Become Part of School Education
Speaking during the programme, Choudhary said the government could consider introducing yoga into the school curriculum from the next academic year.
He said the move would aim to connect children with healthy living habits from an early age and encourage a culture of physical and mental well-being among students.
Senior Leaders Join Celebrations
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Choudhary, Health Minister Nishant Kumar and JD(U) MP Lalan Singh, among other dignitaries and public representatives.
The leaders joined participants in performing yoga exercises and highlighted the role of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Strong Public Participation
People from all age groups took part in the programme. Children, youth, women and senior citizens gathered at the sports complex and participated in various yoga activities.
Participants performed Surya Namaskar, pranayama and several yoga postures under the guidance of trained instructors. The venue witnessed an enthusiastic response throughout the session.

Yoga trainers and experts present at the event demonstrated the correct techniques for various yoga practices and explained their physical and mental health benefits.

Health Minister Nishant Kumar described yoga as one of the most effective and affordable ways to maintain good health in today’s fast-paced world.

JD(U) MP Lalan Singh said India had helped establish yoga as a global practice, with millions of people across different countries embracing it.
He said citizens should also integrate yoga into their daily routines to fully benefit from its physical and mental advantages.

International Yoga Day was observed across Bihar with programmes organised in schools, colleges, parks and public spaces.
District administrations, educational institutions and social organisations conducted yoga camps and awareness activities to encourage greater participation in yoga and healthy living.
