Bihar: Young Man Came Home For Chhath Puja, Found Murdered

Crime

Patna – A young man, Shubham Pathak, employed at a textile factory in Panipat and who had come home for Chhath Puja, was brutally murdered. The assailants discarded his lifeless body near his residence, inflicting wounds with a knife, including a fatal stab to his eye.

Shubham, the son of Jagnarayan Pathak, originally from Barwan, Siwan, was residing in a rented house in Tarachak, Danapur.

Family members are pointing fingers at three friends of the deceased for the murder. According to relatives, Shubham left home on Thursday afternoon, stating he would return shortly. When he failed to return, a late-night search ensued, leading to the discovery of Shubham’s body in the Mainpura cemetery. Danapur police responded, taking possession of the body and sending it to Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem.

Liquor bottles were found near the crime scene, and Danapur ASP Abhinav Dhiman suggested the murder involved a sharp object. The motive remains unknown pending investigation. Although the police are actively seeking the suspects, the three friends are reportedly on the run. The body is currently at Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital awaiting post-mortem.

ASP Abhinav Dhiman, after being informed of the incident, visited the hospital and met the family members.

Shubham’s mother revealed that her son’s body was dumped in the Mainpura cemetery, detailing a gruesome stabbing with knives.

According to her statement, Shubham was lured away by friends who are now being pursued by the police. The motive behind the murder remains unclear at this stage.

Recent reports suggest that Shubham had recently eloped with a girl from the same village, marrying her and fathering a one-month-old child. The police are investigating whether the murder is connected to Shubham’s love affair.
