Rohtas: In Bihar’s Rohtas district, four young men ended up behind bars after dressing in real police uniforms and making reels for social media. Their attempt to go viral quickly turned into a legal nightmare. The Dehri Mufassil police received a tip-off that some youths were stopping people on the road near the Pahelja power grid, wearing police uniforms and filming videos in a Scorpio car without a number plate. Acting fast, the police reached the spot and arrested all four.

The arrested youths were identified as Shatrughan Kumar from Rohtas, Rahul Kumar and Shashi Kumar from Shambhu Bigha in Rohtas, and Prince Kumar from Aurangabad. Two of them were wearing genuine Bihar Police uniforms. Police said these young men were already known for making reels in police uniforms, and several of their videos had gone viral online. Their desire for attention on social media appears to have led them to break the law.

During the operation, police recovered several items from their vehicle. These included two rifles made of wood and iron, six plastic pistols, two sets of combat uniforms, backpacks, caps, and holsters. Dehri ASP Atulesh Jha said the weapons were fake, but the uniforms were real. When questioned, the youths failed to explain where they had obtained the authentic uniforms. Videos from their social media accounts confirmed that they had been acting as police officers.

Authorities warned that impersonating police officers is a serious offence. Police said the youths were trying to intimidate people on the road while filming their reels. A case has been registered against them, and an investigation is underway to trace the source of the real uniforms. ASP Jha said strict action would follow. The incident is a reminder that chasing social media fame without considering the law can have serious consequences.
