Bihar’s Air Quality Deteriorates: 17 Districts, Including Patna, Hit by Toxic Air

Patna Municipal Corporation Takes Bold Steps to Combat Air Pollution

Patna: Bihar’s air quality is worsening day by day, with 17 districts, including the capital city of Patna, experiencing severely polluted air. Among these, four cities — Hajipur, Saharsa, Purnia, and Araria — have been classified in the red zone, indicating critical levels of air pollution. The most alarming situation is in Hajipur, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached a hazardous level of 413, signaling severe health risks for residents.

The Bihar Meteorological Center has stated that the state’s weather is expected to remain stable over the next 24 to 48 hours. However, western winds are blowing across the region, and a new western disturbance is forecasted for today, which could lead to a drop in minimum temperatures in the coming days.

According to a meteorologist from the Meteorological Center, the approaching western disturbance will bring changes to the weather in the hilly areas, which in turn may cause a noticeable dip in Bihar’s temperatures. As a result, colder weather is expected to set in across the state. In the immediate term, maximum temperatures are predicted to remain between 30 to 32 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures hovering between 20 to 21 degrees Celsius.

During the last 24 hours, Begusarai and Supaul recorded the highest maximum temperatures, while Kishanganj and Banka experienced the lowest minimum temperatures. The Meteorological Department has released data from 14 districts for maximum temperatures and from 12 districts for minimum temperatures.
