Jehanabad/Patna: Bihar’s first film city has been established in the Kako block of Jehanabad district by film producer Haider Ali, marking a significant milestone in the state’s cultural landscape. Located in the village of Pali, the facility has already become a hub of cinematic activity, with six films shot so far by visiting artists from Mumbai.
The project has attracted widespread attention, including a visit from Minor Irrigation Minister Santosh Kumar Suman, who praised the initiative. The minister said building a film city in a rural area is a highly commendable effort and expressed gratitude to Haider Ali for his vision. He also noted the presence of well-known actors such as Akhilesh Jain and Dheeraj Pandit, who have worked in films produced at the site.
Haider Ali, a native of Pali, said his primary motivation was to foster development in his home village. He aims to generate employment opportunities and support local talent by providing film-related infrastructure and training. Plans are underway to construct hotels and a dedicated school for art education in the area. “Many people work in film from the city, but I wanted to do something new in the village,” he said.
One of the films shot at the new facility, Kanya Dhan, tackles a significant social issue. It tells the story of a young woman’s suffering in her marital home and emphasizes the importance of families supporting their daughters after marriage. The film seeks to challenge the societal norm that a woman must endure hardship in her in-laws’ home and carries a message of respect and compassion.
