Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar distributed appointment certificates to 1,239 newly appointed sub-inspectors of police at a program held at Bapu Auditorium, Samrat Ashok Convention Center. In a symbolic gesture, the Chief Minister handed certificates to sub-inspectors Madhu Kashyap, Gautam Kumar, Shobha Rani, Ladli Kumari, Shivesh Kumar Jha, Komal Kumari, Reena Kumari, and Roshni Kumari.

During the event, after lighting the ceremonial lamp, Nitish Kumar expressed his delight at the appointment of 442 women among the newly recruited officers, highlighting the state’s progress in increasing women’s representation in the police force. He welcomed the parents of the newly appointed officers, recognizing their support and extending congratulations to them as well.

The Chief Minister noted the significant improvements in Bihar’s law and order since 2005, stating that the police force had grown from 42,000 personnel in 2005 to 110,000 at present. He emphasized the importance of women in policing, noting that Bihar now has around 30,000 women officers, a figure unmatched by other states. He instructed the Director General of Police to expedite the recruitment of an additional 78,000 officers, bringing the total force to the required 229,000.

Kumar further discussed the government’s commitment to employment under the “Saat Nishchay – 2” scheme, where 24 lakh people have already gained employment, and a target has been set to increase this number by an additional 10 lakh jobs. He mentioned that, so far, 7.16 lakh jobs have been provided, and the goal has been raised to 12 lakh. The Chief Minister reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equality and non-discrimination in job distribution.

Director General of Police Alok Raj administered the departmental oath to the newly appointed officers, while Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena led the oath of prohibition. A short film highlighting the work of Bihar Police was also screened during the event.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and several senior officials, including Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Principal Secretary of the Home Department Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, and Inspector General of Police Garima Malik. Parents of the officers, along with other senior police officials, were also present at the event.
