BJP Honors Jananayak Karpoori Thakur on 101st Birth Anniversary, Reaffirms Commitment to Social Justice
Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) marked the 101st birth anniversary of former Bihar Chief Minister and social justice pioneer Jananayak Karpoori Thakur with a grand event at its district office in Purnia. Party leaders, workers, and citizens gathered to honour the life and legacy of Thakur, remembered for his commitment to the rights of the oppressed and his efforts to promote social harmony.
The program commenced with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and floral tributes to Thakur’s portrait by BJP State President and Bihar’s Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms, Dr. Dilip Jaiswal.
A Legacy of Social Justice
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jaiswal lauded Thakur’s lifelong dedication to the marginalized. “Jananayak Karpoori Thakur Ji devoted his entire life to fighting for the rights of the oppressed, deprived, and poor. He was the true torchbearer of social justice, who took historic steps to bring the backward and most backward classes into the mainstream. His simplicity, honesty, and dedication are an inspiration for every Indian,” he said.
Highlighting Thakur’s policies, Dr. Jaiswal added, “His ‘Social Justice Policy’ and ‘Equal Education System’ were groundbreaking and remain relevant today. He introduced historic reforms in education, healthcare, and employment to empower backward communities.”
Dr. Jaiswal also emphasized Thakur’s role in fostering social harmony, stating, “He firmly established the principles of equality and inclusivity in society. His ideals continue to guide us to work towards empowering every section of society.”

Calling Thakur a role model for public representatives and social workers, Dr. Jaiswal said, “His life exemplifies how strong willpower and commitment to public service can bring about positive changes in society. His simplicity and honesty serve as an enduring example.”
Dr. Jaiswal urged attendees to embrace Thakur’s ideals and prioritize development and justice for society’s most vulnerable members.

The event saw participation from key BJP leaders, including Purnia Sadar MLA Vijay Khemka, BJP District President Manoj Singh, and Rakesh Kumar, Vice President of the District Program Implementation Committee. Hundreds of party workers and citizens also attended to pay their respects.
