Patna: After allegedly receiving death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Purnia MP Pappu Yadav is facing criticism from multiple quarters. On one hand, his wife, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ranjita Ranjan, has distanced herself from his claims, while opposition leaders have begun mocking his request for increased security.
Bihar’s PHED Minister and BJP leader Neeraj Bablu dismissed the threat calls as fake during a press conference in Saharsa. Bablu questioned Yadav’s stance, saying, “He claims he fears no one, but a fake call has shaken him, and now he’s asking for security.”
The BJP leader continued to criticize the MP’s contradictory statements. “Pappu Yadav says he’s strong and unafraid, yet he seeks protection. If he’s not afraid, why ask for security? Such double standards won’t work anymore,” Bablu added.
Another BJP leader, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, former president of the Indian Wrestling Federation and ex-MP from Kaiserganj, also took a jab at Yadav, remarking, “There’s a strongman in Bihar who talks about every issue, but now wants security. He weighs three to four quintals yet wants protection.” Singh further mocked the MP for previously offering rewards, suggesting he should handle the situation himself without asking for security.
In response to Singh’s comments, Pappu Yadav took to Facebook Live, hitting back by referencing allegations made against Singh by wrestlers. “MP ji, you’ve lost your strength and status. You didn’t even speak up after the Karni Sena president was killed,” Yadav retorted.
Pappu Yadav reportedly received threats over the phone from a caller identifying himself as “Hakala,” claiming to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The caller said that Lawrence Bishnoi had arranged to have a jail jammer deactivated for 10 minutes to issue the threat. Yadav has since requested Z+ security, involving over 10 NSG commandos, and has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking additional protection.
