Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed a government in Delhi after 27 years, securing a decisive mandate. A key factor in this victory was the party’s strategy to mobilize Purvanchali voters, with over three dozen leaders from Bihar playing a crucial role. With Delhi secured, the BJP has now shifted its focus to the Bihar assembly elections, setting an ambitious target of winning 225 seats. The party has coined the slogan: “Delhi to Jhanki, Bihar Hai Baaki” (Delhi was a preview, Bihar is next).
Preparations for the Bihar assembly elections will begin in April. The party plans to evaluate 11 potential candidates in each constituency, assessing their influence, organizational connections, and caste dynamics. Local leaders and party workers will submit constituency-wise reports to the BJP headquarters. Following an internal review, seven names per constituency will be shortlisted, with the final selection being made in Delhi.
District BJP presidents have been tasked with securing at least 70% of the seats in their respective regions. Booth-level leaders have also been assigned specific targets, with each booth president expected to ensure at least 800 votes in favor of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Given that each booth has 1,200 to 1,500 voters, the party is aiming for at least 60% voter support at the grassroots level.
The BJP also intends to advise its NDA allies on candidate selection. A report evaluating potential candidates from each alliance party will be prepared and submitted to the NDA’s national president. Meanwhile, NDA allies have been conducting meetings across Bihar for the past month, organizing district-level public gatherings to build electoral momentum.
