PATNA – In a significant development, the state Cabinet has granted administrative approval for an estimated amount of Rs 61.96 crore to enhance the tourist infrastructure around the Vishnupad Temple in Gaya district. The allocated funds aim to facilitate the construction of a pathway-cum-shed building, additional structures, and an alternative approach path for the temple and adjacent bus depot.
Under this initiative, the proposed construction includes a main building equipped with seating facilities for pilgrims, a 42-meter path connecting the riverfront to the main temple, canopies, toilets, drinking water facilities, development of pathways, a tourist facility center, and a bus depot near the parking area.
The move is anticipated to elevate the tourist experience, leading to an increase in the number of visitors to Gaya. The project is not only expected to generate revenue for the government but also create employment and business opportunities for the local population in the surrounding areas.
Significance of Gaya and Vishnupad Temple:
According to Hindu tradition, Gaya is considered a crucial pilgrimage site where the performance of Shraddha, Pind Daan, and Tarpan holds immense significance for the peace of ancestral souls. Vishnupad Temple, situated in Gaya, is believed to be a sacred place where Lord Vishnu resides in the form of Pitrudev. The historical association of Lord Ram and Mother Sita performing Shraddha rituals on the banks of the river Falgu adds to the sanctity of the location.
Every year, Gaya attracts a substantial number of devotees and tourists from India and abroad who come to offer Pind Daan, making it an essential destination for Hindus. The proposed infrastructure development aims to enhance the overall pilgrimage experience and accommodate the increasing influx of visitors.
Multi-Departmental Collaboration:
Various departments, including the Tourism Department, Water Resources Department, and Road Construction Department, are actively involved in the project. The Tourism Department is overseeing the construction of the main building and associated facilities, while the Water Resources Department focuses on the approval of alternative access roads and related works along the Falgu River. Simultaneously, the Road Construction Department is working on parking, drainage, road construction, and connecting road development.
The administrative approval marks a significant step toward realizing the vision of creating a well-equipped and visitor-friendly environment around the Vishnupad Temple, ultimately enriching the cultural and spiritual experience for pilgrims and tourists alike.
