Patna: Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Monday said the government had resolved the issues over which BPSC TRE-4 candidates were protesting, even as aspirants continued their demonstration in Patna and attempted to march towards the chief minister’s residence.
The administration had placed barricades along the protesters’ route. According to reports, some protesters broke through the barricades as they continued towards the residence.
Tiwari said the government was committed to addressing problems faced by students and young people and had acted on the concerns raised by the protesting candidates.
“All the issues over which the students were protesting have been resolved,” the education minister said.
Tiwari Targets Tejashwi Yadav
The minister also criticised RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav over his comments on examinations.
Tiwari said he was surprised that someone who had not appeared for the Class 10 board examination was offering suggestions on examination-related matters.
He said Yadav should enrol in a Bihar government school, pass the Class 10 examination and then offer suggestions on the state’s examination system.
What Are BPSC TRE-4 Aspirants Demanding?
The protesting aspirants have raised several demands concerning the BPSC TRE-4 recruitment examination.
Among their key demands is that TRE-4 should be conducted through a single examination. They are also seeking the removal of negative marking and implementation of a 100% domicile policy.
The candidates have been demonstrating in Patna over these demands and are seeking an opportunity to present their concerns directly to the chief minister.
Aspirant Raises Concerns Over Exam Centre
During the protest, a woman aspirant said she had borrowed Rs 2,000 to travel to Siwan to appear for the BPSC AEDO examination.
She said she had lost both her parents and was working while continuing her studies. According to her, the examination centre in Siwan was located in what she described as an unsuitable location.
The aspirant alleged that the centre was situated in a field and expressed concern that such arrangements could create conditions conducive to malpractice.
Police Assure Protesters Of Delegation
The protesters remained firm on their demand to meet Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, saying they wanted their concerns addressed directly by him.
Police officials have reportedly assured the protesters that a delegation of students would be formed and taken to meet the chief minister.
Patna District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police have been overseeing the situation. Police personnel have been deployed at several locations as the protest continues.
