Muzaffarpur: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) held a condolence meeting on Saturday to pay tribute to the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives and left more than 20 injured.
The meeting, organised at Dr Ambedkar Park on the university campus, was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dinesh Chandra Rai, who addressed the gathering of students, faculty and staff. A moment of silence was observed to honour the memory of those killed.
Prof Rai condemned the attack in strong terms, calling it “an assault on humanity itself”. He said: “We stand united in grief with the families of the victims and pray for the swift recovery of the injured. Such acts of violence have no place in a civilized society.”
He further added that following the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir had moved towards “progress, peace and development”, and accused Pakistan of attempting to disrupt this through terror attacks. “Ye Naya Bharat hai, a New India that will not tolerate terrorism,” he said.
Prof Rai praised the central government’s stance on national security, citing decisive responses to past attacks. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has demonstrated strength in responding to terrorism with actions like Uri and Balakot. We believe the perpetrators of this heinous act will face severe consequences,” he said.
The university community gathered to express solidarity with the bereaved families and reaffirmed their faith in the nation’s commitment to countering terrorism.
